Insurance Inspections

Wind Mitigations & 4-Point Inspections

A Wind Mitigation inspection is used to obtain insurance when purchasing a home. Inspectors will collect the following information during the inspection:

  • Age of the home to determine which building code was used during construction
  • The age of the roof
  • Type of roof coverings
  • The roof deck attachment
  • The roof-to-wall connection
  • Roof shape
  • If a Secondary Water Barrier (SWR) was used underneath the roof covering
  • Opening protection for all openings (garage doors, entry doors, windows, glass blocks & skylights)

A Four-Point Inspection focuses only on the four main areas of interest in a home:

  1. Air Conditioning & Heating
  2. Plumbing
  3. Roof
  4. Electrical

The inspection report describes the condition and age of these elements. These inspections are only used to obtain insurance and should not be used in the place of a full home inspection.
